ROBOTICS

Anika is currently studying a Bachelor of Science (Cognitive Science) at Flinders University (Tonsley) combining biology, neuroscience, computational design and minoring in mathematics.

Specifically, Anika’s current research interests are in biometric software design, particularly within sensory-motor systems and embodied cognition.

METAL FABRICATION

Through welding courses with WEA and NAVAL submarines, education through Urrbrae High School and AC College of the arts, and work in bronze foundries, solar panel installation and metal sculpture fabrication (personal and for other artists) Anika has developed a skillset with metal fabrication.

ART

Anika completed a Bachelor of Creative Arts (Visual) at Flinders University (AC Arts) in 2019. Anika has undertaken public art projects, exhibitions and residencies both locally and Internationally. Anika was a recipient of the Helpmann Academy Graduate Award 2019 and the City Rural Travel Award 2019. In 2022 Anika was awarded Helpmann’s $150000 public art commission for Goolwa Wharf front, one of Australia’s most prestigious awards for an emerging artist. In 2023 Anika was awarded a Helpmann Elevate Mentorship with artist Stelarc.

ALL TOGETHER NOW

Combining this three part skillset, Anika is hoping to using creative thinking process and conceptual design in thinking around challenges and new ideas within the field of soft robotics and biologically inspired software design. Ultimately using art as a platform to explore, critique and adjust emergent paradigms to try to navigate the post-human future terrains with a utopian trajectory.
